Freedom Day in Vic Oct 2021

Ok, so I’ve had this post sitting in my draft for a while, as I’ve been meaning to get to it but life got in the way! I had titled it – Freedom day in Vic Friday 22 Oct 2021, as harsh lockdown was lifted and announced on Sunday 17th Oct, with extra freedoms for the fully vaccinated.

Just as soon as we had a taste of freedom, and the children were steadily back at childcare, and restrictions have lifted, we were notified of positive COVID-19 cases at our childcare. There was one case on Wed night 20th Oct, where childcare shutdown for 2 days. Luckily the test results came back quick quickly by Sat and as we were not close contacts, didn’t have to isolate for 14 days, phew!

Just that day before we were notified, we were catching up with our son’s friends at the park and it was such a beautiful day, it had been so long since we caught up with other kids/families!

Freedom day also just in time for my birthday weekend – where we were out and about for brunch, had people over, and the kids did some trick-o-treating for Halloween.

Then there was another covid case scare at childcare, and again, deep cleansing for 2 days and children were back at childcare the next week following a negative test. I ended up getting some antigen rapid tests to avoid having to drive the children again to the testing sites.

Since then, we’ve been out on weekends for birthday celebrations, having play dates with friends, going to the pool, gym sessions, shopping and things are just starting to look a little normal again with 1 month to go for Christmas.
