So I haven’t posted for a while since we were in lockdown and coming out according to the roadmap to open Victoria, I remember we were already out of lockdown by my birthday which was at the end of Oct 2020 (earlier than the last step date of Nov 23 2020), and I celebrated by getting my haircut (hadn’t had one for more than 6 months!). It was awesome timing to open up as we were heading into Christmas. By Christmas 2020 and New year in 2021, we were able to celebrate without any lockdown restrictions (although our family were still keeping it on the down low with celebrations).

So we hear that in some parts of the word, COVID-19 is still raging and ramping up more than ever during the time we were out of lockdown over the summer. We felt so blessed that we could start going to places again, the beach during summer, travelling again interstate, and we also made use of the regional travel voucher scheme and did a roadtrip to Queenscliff with the family.

For work, after my extended time off in January after the holiday season, I was due back to be in the office physically from 11th Jan 2021. We were rostered on every fortnight to be in the office as our team was split into 2 (Team A & Team B) to be rostered in the office or at home. It was all going really well, until the when something went wrong with the hotel quarantines during the Australian Open 2021 (which went ahead), and Victoria was sent back into a 5 day snap lockdown (it started on Sat 13th Feb over the Valentines Day weekend, and finished on Wednesday 17th Feb midnight). Luckily, it didn’t get extended, and we are now out of lockdown again, operating back in COVID-safe normal (like during Christmas 2020). It’s just in time for my son’s 2nd birthday this weekend where we can invite more than 5 family members in the house.
I really hope that we don’t have many more lockdowns, as businesses that were already struggling have been able to open up, and that they keep open, and our economy starts thriving again. It’s a good sign that vaccinations are starting to be implemented here as well as all over the world and hopefully we can beat this virus very soon!
