2nd wave?

Just as I was writing easing restrictions in the last post, and it was due for opening up more venues this week, our state (Vic) had the highest no. of cases on the country past few days and the restrictions are back (it’s also winter) – limiting 5 in our house, 10 outside, and still a limited capacity in restaurants and other venues.

In our household, I was meant to be taking some leave (after a busy semester 1) while kids are at childcare (free childcare will end 13 July), the whole family except me got sick! My hubby was hardest hit with flu like symptoms, and the baby had a lingering cough/snotty nose for about 2 weeks but when he started to have a temp, we called the corona virus hotline and they advised the procedure time be tested for COVID-19. My hubby went to a close by shopping centre carpark to get tested but it was full (he went twice!) He ended up getting referral from the gp to go to the pathologist which was way quicker, and got the results back as negative (phew!) in 2 days. We had a gp appointment (over the phone) for my baby and described his symptoms (his fever had gone) and was told he didn’t need covid-19 testing, I was so relieved because kids under 2 usually had to go to the emergency department of the hospital and they are already busy as it is! My baby is recovering now and back at childcare today, however his eczema has flared up past 2 days as its been really dry.

Hopefully, things will get better again and there’s no big 2nd wave. I’m quite sure we can get control over it again!
