I’ve been meaning to write a lot more but every time I find myself about to write, something always comes up with the kids, housework or I’m just too tired lol!
I think it was about 2 weekends ago, we had a friend’s baby shower over zoom! It was actually really good as the mother to be got to be in the comfort of her own home (she lives in Sydney), & we could still do our parenting duties (or the dads are around to do them) while we chat to our friends (and even her mother and mum in law) and played multiple baby games virtually. Only downside is you got to make your own food/coffee, but it was made up as I won the overall games lol. Nothing beats being able to give some mum advice to first time mum that really needs it in this climate.
The there’s the multiple zoom meetings at work (we have a daily one at 3.30pm with our team), the wider one with managers, and those townhall all staff ones, then there’s those social trivia ones and the other meetings program specific to our stakeholders. In the weekend, we also use zoom for our church meetings and discussions. Never been so socially connected before from home. Zoom zoom zoom nearly everyday and we got so good at putting on virtual backgrounds that home movies are quite easy too!
Will Zoom continue as we move into the future? It certainly makes it easier if you’re unable to travel, but sometimes its great to have that physical connection too. The government is announcing a 3 step plan for easing restrictions which will probably be happening from next week, but I have a feeling this Zoom thing (or alternative) will keep going for a while even when restrictions ease.
